Summer Beverages

With the arrival of summer season, every kind of beverages are available in the market according to the taste and demand of the people. People drink more and more water, cold and hot drinks according to the seasonal taste etc. Lime Soda, Coke, Pepsi, Dew, Marinda, Shezan,Milk Shake, Butter-milk (Lassi) etc. are very common beverages that one uses in this hot weather. While water is commonly available everywhere, there are some places where people do not have access to even this common blessing. So whenever you drink water or take any beverages give  thanks to the Almighty for such a great belssing.

Today I am going to give you some good tips on how to make some of the great beverages at home and use it during this summer. First of all Lime Soda is one common drink and the ingredients for  this are commonly available at home. You will need Lemon, Sprite or Seven Up (if you want to make it just like the Lime Soda available in the market otherwise water will do), Ice, Black Salt (Kala Namak) or Chat Masala (you can use chooran as well). Take water in a bowl put 4 to 5 tablespoons lemon juice in it, now put black salt and sugar in it according to your taste (I usually use one teaspoon). Add Ice to it and your lime soda is ready. You can drink it yourself or give it to your kids and serve to the guests.

Lassi or butter-milk is another beverage that is commonly used for adding taste to one's table. It is usually made out of yogurt and water. Some people add in sugar while others use salt start stirring and striking it in a gharoli (round pot) until it has butter coming over its surface, then they drink it ice-cold. Lassi is a traditional Pakistani drink and considered very useful for the stomach and keeps one's digestive system in shape.

Tukhme Rehan or Tukhme Malangan is another useful seed that you can use in this summer in your drinks. Put one tablespoon Tukhme Malangan in some water for about a couple of hours and then make Jam e Shirin or Rooh Afza and add Tukhme Malangan to it. This useful drink will help keep away the thirst and you will feel energized throughout the day.

Milk-shakes of every flavor can be made at home provided you have the required fruits available at home. You can purchase mangoes, strawberries, banana, apple, orange etc and make shakes by adding milk and ice to their nectar. Honey can also be used instead of adding sugar to these shakes which is very useful for human health. Honey can also be added to water and this drink helps control fats in your body and you will feel revitalized and fresh if you use it daily before taking breakfast.

Guava and grapes juices are also very useful during summer time. Apart from these traditional beverages you can always experiment with unconventional drinks such as grapefruit, pineapple and papaya juices etc. These are really healthy and good for skin.

So this summer try unconventional drinks and beverages and beat the heat. :)
